The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) is responsible for reviewing decisions made by Australian government departments, including immigration and visa-related decisions.An AAT appeal is applicable for certain refused or cancelled visa applications, rejected citizenship applications, and other specific immigration-related matters.
In general, applicants or sponsors of the following visa types may be eligible to lodge a review with the AAT:
Student Visa (lodged within Australia)
Skilled Migration (lodged within Australia)
Employer-Sponsored Visas
Family Reunion Visas (e.g. Partner and Parent Visas)
Tourist Visas Sponsored by Relatives
Business Migration Visas
