Parent Visa Categories
Australia's Parent Visa program allows parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to migrate to Australia to reunite with their children.These visas are generally divided into permanent and temporary options. The permanent visas are further split into queue-based and contributory categories, with differences mainly in cost and processing time.
Queue-Based Permanent Visas:
Subclass 103 – Parent Visa (Permanent)
Subclass 804 – Aged Parent Visa (Permanent)
Contributory Permanent Visas (Higher Cost, Faster Processing):
Subclass 143 – Contributory Parent Visa (Permanent)
Subclass 864 – Contributory Aged Parent Visa (Permanent)
Temporary Parent Visas:
Subclass 173 – Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa(Valid for 2 years; can be transitioned to Subclass 143 for permanent residency)
Subclass 884 – Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) Visa(Valid for 2 years; can be transitioned to Subclass 864 for permanent residency)
Subclass 870 – Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Visa(Allows a stay of up to 5 years)
