Australia's immigration quota will be significantly increased to 200,000
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison held a press conference today, announcing that within one year from December 1, 2021, the immigration quota will be significantly increased to 200,000; however, it is unclear how many quotas for each visa category (currently there are 79,600 skilled visa categories). There are 13,750 places in the humanitarian program, and there is no cap on the number of student visas).
Immigration rates fell sharply after Australia closed its borders in March last year.
Nearly two years later, many industries are currently short of employees, and projects including large-scale public infrastructure are facing a labor shortage.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said: "After we've already announced that citizens and permanent residents will be able to return without quarantining, this is the natural next step, we already have a travel bubble with Singapore, and the next step is to bring back skilled workers and international students.
"Skilled workers and international students both play a vital role in the Australian economy. We know the international student market is worth $40 billion and we know there is a serious job skills shortage in Australia and skilled workers can play a key role."
From December 1, citizens of Japan and South Korea can enter Australia without quarantine
From December 1, citizens of Japan or South Korea who have received two shots will also be able to enter, they must:
- from one's own home country
- fully vaccinated
- Hold a valid Australian visa
- Provide proof of vaccination
- Provide proof of negative accounting test within 3 days before departure
Australian Chinese immigration conclusion
With the rising vaccination rate, Australia's gradual relaxation of restrictions is an inevitable result. Today's major positive news also conveys the Australian government's determination to absorb more immigrants and revive the economy. The majority of international students can finally return to their long-awaited university classrooms and start their normal campus life. Australian-Chinese immigrants also remind everyone to prepare vaccine certificates and other materials before entry, pay attention to official information, and take precautions; those who intend to study abroad and immigrate to Australia Friends can get ready too.
