Queensland opens State nominate program - First round of invitations at the end of September

Queensland commenced accepting applications for skilled immigration state visas on September 5, 2023. This year, Queensland has a total of 1,550 skilled immigration state allocations, with 900 slots for the Subclass 190 visa and 650 slots for the Subclass 491 visa. Simultaneously, they've announced revised requirements for skilled immigration.

Although the allocation for this fiscal year is limited, the prerequisites for skilled immigrants in Queensland, on the whole, are more accessible. The first round of invitations is set to be issued at the end of September. Applicants who do not receive an invitation will need to resubmit their Expression of Interest (EOI) application.

For overseas applicants, there have been updates to the Occupation List (QSOL), which now covers a wide array of professions.

𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝟭𝟵𝟬 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:

  • EOI score of at least 75 points.

  • Skilled occupation listed on Queensland's QSOL.

  • Minimum IELTS score of 6.

  • Meeting the work experience requirements for the designated occupation.

𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝟰𝟵𝟭 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:

  • EOI score of at least 65 points.

  • Other requirements are the same as for domestic worker applicants.

In general, there has been a reduction in language, EOI, and work experience requirements for nominated occupations.

  • For instance, the language score prerequisites for the 190 visa have been lowered to a minimum of four IELTS 6. The EOI score has decreased from 80 to 75, and the work experience requirement has been reduced from 6 months to 3 months. Graduates from any major in Queensland have the opportunity to apply for the 190 and 491 visas.

  • To be eligible for the 190 and 491 visas, all studies must have been completed entirely in Queensland. Additionally, the graduation should have occurred within the past two years, with language requirements set at IELTS 4 and 6. The Immigration Bureau's occupation list is to be followed. An applicant with a GPA of 6.0 can apply for the 190 visa, while a GPA of 5.0 is sufficient for the 491 visa.

The SBO small business channel requirements have not undergone significant changes.
