Types of visas currently accepted
At present, Chinese visa applications are only available for necessary economic, trade, scientific and technological activities, as well as visa applicants for urgent humanitarian needs. Visa applications for purposes other than those mentioned above will not be accepted.

1. Short-term family visit visas issued for urgent humanitarian reasons (visa type Q2)
Emergency humanitarian visits are limited to visiting deceased or seriously ill spouses, parents, children, grandchildren, grandchildren, grandparents, and maternal grandparents. In addition to the relationship certificate, a death certificate, a hospitalization certificate, or a serious (critical) notice must be issued. There must be one of the three, otherwise it will not be accepted.
2. Business Visa (Visa Type M)
To return to work or do business in China, the company needs to apply for a PU invitation letter from the Foreign Affairs Bureau (where the company address is, it is at the local Foreign Affairs Bureau). Standards vary from place to place. For example, Shanghai requires reference to business licenses, tax records, business activity descriptions, etc.

Preparation of Chinese visa materials
1. Basic application materials
(1) Passport and photocopy:
An original passport with a validity period of more than 6 months and blank visa pages and a copy of the passport information page.
(2) Visa application form and photos
The application form should be filled in and printed out by computer. Manual filling will not be accepted. The photo size is a small 2-inch passport photo (48mm×33mm). For details, please refer to the requirements on the visa center website.
(3) A copy of the original Chinese passport and a copy of the original Chinese visa (applicable to those who once had Chinese nationality and later became a foreign national): If you are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, please provide the original Chinese passport and a copy of the passport photo information page documents and the first Australian/other country permanent residence visa prior to naturalization. If you have obtained a Chinese visa, please provide a copy of the previously obtained Chinese visa. If you apply for a visa with a new foreign passport, please provide the photo data page of the original passport and a copy of the Chinese visa you have obtained (if the name on the new passport is different from the name on the original passport, please provide the official certificate of the changed name) certified documents).
(4) For minors under the age of 18, please provide the original and photocopy of the birth certificate.
(5) For minors under the age of 18 who are of Chinese descent (one parent is a Chinese nationality or has a Chinese nationality) for the first time applying for a Chinese visa, please provide:
1. Proof of parental identity: the original and photocopy of the passport information page of both parents of the minor, the naturalization papers of both parents when the minor was born, the original and photocopy of the Australian visa or permanent residence visa;
2. The original and photocopy of the minor's birth certificate.
2. Other application materials
(1) An invitation letter issued by a Chinese citizen residing in China or a foreign citizen residing in China with Chinese permanent residence status. The invitation letter must contain the following:
1. Personal information of the invitee: name, gender, date of birth, etc.;
2. Information about the invitee's visit to China: purpose of coming to China, date of arrival and departure, place of stay, relationship with the inviter, source of expenses during the stay in China, etc.;
3. Inviter information: name, contact number, address, signature of the inviter, etc.
(2) A photocopy of the inviter's Chinese ID card or a photocopy of the foreigner's passport and permanent residence permit.
*If applying for a visa for humanitarian reasons, you also need to provide:
The patient's medical certificate: The death certificate within half a month, the hospital's critical/severe illness notice, the hospitalization certificate, and other medical certificates are required, and the hospital's fixed landline telephone number is also required.
The kinship relationship between the applicant and the sick person only includes family members (spouse, parents, children, grandparents) of the immediate family within three generations. Issues to be aware of
(1) Please fill in all the contents of the visa application form truthfully, clearly and completely. If the visa form filling requirements are not met or the materials are incomplete, the application will be delayed or rejected.
(2) Applicants must be responsible for the authenticity of passports, forms, photos and all other application materials (including photocopies).
(3) The invitation letter can be faxed, photocopied or printed, but the applicant must be responsible for the authenticity of the invitation and the accuracy of the content, and if necessary, provide the original invitation letter as required by the visa officer.
(4) If the visa service center requires an interview, the applicant will be notified separately. Applicants must come in person for the interview.
(5) According to the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, China does not recognize dual nationality for Chinese citizens. Chinese citizens residing in foreign countries who voluntarily join or acquire foreign nationality will automatically lose their Chinese nationality.
(6) Please pay attention to get the visa in time. Failure to claim for more than 3 months will be cancelled and may affect future applications.
(7) Generally, the Q2 visa is issued and the stay in China shall not exceed 180 days.
